CASE STUDY 

James Webb Space Telescope (JWST)

The James Webb Space Telescope will be the largest and most complex telescope ever launched into space. Quartus has been supporting the JWST for over 16 years in a variety of engineering disciplines including:

  • Model generation, integration, and checkout

  • Model reduction (DMIGs, Superelements, etc.)

  • Stress, dynamics, and thermal distortion analysis

  • Full observatory stowed sine-vibe and notching analysis

  • On-orbit deployed jitter analysis

  • Modal pre-test analysis for accelerometer placement

  • Modal & SV post-test model updating/test correlation

  • Nonlinear deployment simulations
