Denver, Colorado & San Diego, California — A strategic partnership between Double Helix Optics and Quartus Engineering that makes cost-effective and instantaneous 3D imaging accessible across industries will be formally announced during the SPIE Photonics West conference.

Double Helix Optics, a leading provider of real-time, high-resolution 3D imaging solutions, and Quartus Engineering, a leading provider of engineering services and product development as a service, will work together to bring to market innovative spatial-capture solutions.

Double Helix Optics and Quartus will combine resources and engineering expertise to integrate Double Helix’s award-winning 3D imaging technology into existing instruments and to develop new products that incorporates the technology. This will enable the creation of custom and complete 3D imaging solutions for OEM customers for both new and next-generation instrumentation.

By harnessing advanced principles of computational optics, Double Helix Optics’ transformative 3D technology eliminates the conventional tradeoff between high resolution and depth capture and delivers both. This patented technology also delivers increased speed, improved accuracy, and up to 15 times the native depth of field, as well as an order-of-magnitude decrease in dataset size.

“The novel technology Double Helix Optics developed enables 3D imaging and measurement and Quartus opens many markets in need of our technology, making custom solutions possible across industries, from medical to semiconductor,” said Leslie Kimerling, co-founder and CEO of Double Helix Optics.

At Photonics West, Quartus is a finalist for a SPIE Prism Award in the category of Engineering Test and Measurement for OptiQuiver®, a universal optical metrology instrument. The Prism award gala is Jan. 29. Double Helix Optics won a SPIE Prism Award, which honors innovative optics and photonics solutions, in 2019 in the Diagnostics and Therapeutics category for its SPINDLE® imaging system. The same year, Double Helix Optics also won the grand prize from Luminate, the world’s largest accelerator for optics, photonics, and imaging.

“We are excited to bring our two teams together to address challenging customer requirements to balance image resolution, magnification, and speed of results by combining Quartus' optical, metrology, and system engineering expertise with Double Helix Optics’ revolutionary technology,” said John Williams, CEO of Quartus Engineering.
