We support our clients with advanced mechanical design, analysis, optimization, test, and prototype development using modern CAD and CAE tools.

We are looking for an Engineering Project Manager in our Sterling, Virginia office.

Job Summary:

Responsible for the overall success of projects by planning and executing projects according to deadlines and budget constraints.

  • Direct and manage projects from beginning to end; develop project plans and communicate appropriately; obtain and manage the appropriate and necessary resources to accomplish objectives in a timely manner
  • Ensure project is delivered on time, on budget and achieves desired goals
  • Creates and reviews 3-D engineering models and documentation packages
  • Reviews possible layouts/orientations to understand tradeoffs and optimize design elements
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships in order to contribute to the future success of the Company
  • Interfaces with customer and travels to customer sites for meetings and/or engineering support
  • Contributes to the overall success and quality of Quartus services

Qualifications:

  • BS and/or MS in Mechanical or similar Engineering field and/or equivalent experience
  • 7-10 yearrs work experience in an engineering related field
  • Minimum 2 yearrs experience managing projects and customers including project scheduling, project budgeting and engineering oversight
  • Able to apply engineering principles and techniques to solve a variety of problems
  • Able to prepare proposals and presentations and assist with sales meetings as necessary
  • Able to perform computer-aided design or analysis and provide project oversight concurrently
  • Experience with mentoring more junior engineering staff and motivating them to achieve project deadlines with accurate results
  • Experience and/or expertise in:
    • Layout design and mechanical packaging
    • Precision positioning mechanisms and control
    • Heat transfer and design of thermal management solutions
    • Vibration response of dynamic systems
    • One or more industry standard CAD packages required
  • Extensive industry experience and relationships in one of the following areas is highly desirable: Aerospace, Aeronautics, Composite Structures, Alternative Energy and/or Opto-Mechanical
  • Must be eligible to obtain US government security clearance

The successful candidate must demonstrate or possess excellent communication and time management skills and must be able to work in a team.
