Design Program Manager

Quartus Engineering Incorporated ( is a leading provider of mechanical, optical, aerospace and electrical engineering services and integrated hardware solutions for the aerospace, defense, entertainment, commercial, consumer, and medical industries. We support our clients with advanced mechanical, optical, aerospace and electrical design, analysis, optimization, test, prototype development, and manufacturing using modern CAD and CAE tools and leveraging our clean room laboratories.


We are looking for a Program Manager in our San Diego Office.



  • Direct and manage projects from beginning to end; develop project plans and communicate appropriately; obtain and manage the appropriate and necessary resources to accomplish objectives in a timely manner
  • Ensure project is delivered on time, on budget and achieves desired goals
  • Develop non-ambiguous, appropriately refined, and fully documented project requirements
  • Apply creativity, experience, and analytical abilities to problem solving
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
  • Build, develop, and grow business relationships in order to contribute to the future success of Quartus
  • Work closely and collaboratively with clients and engineering personnel as required
  • Travel to customer sites for meetings or engineering support (10-15% travel)
  • Some travel overseas for program support (15% travel for 1-2 weeks at a time)



  • BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or a similar academic discipline)
  • 7 to 10 years of work experience
  • 3+ years in a progressive role managing or leading projects
  • Experience using SolidWorks (2010 or later), CATIA (v5 or v6) and Pro-Engineer (Creo)
  • Preferred industry experience with Electro-Mechanical Systems, Robotics or Optical Systems
  • Exhibit time management skills to support multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to assist in identifying and developing new client relationships
  • Must be able to obtain a US government security clearance
